Your Newborn’s safety is our priority
All our Melbourne Newborn Photography sessions are baby led. We are happy to try any poses you may have seen in our gallery, but as your babie’s safety is our priority, we will only do what they are comfortable with. Even if a certain pose isn’t possible with your Newborn, you’ll still have plenty of photos you’ll fall in love with from your session.
Having two photographers on hand during the whole session, there will always be someone keeping a hand on your baby. We’d rather have extra photoshopping work after the session and make sure your baby is safe, than risk anything.

The steps to a Dreams in Colour Newborn Photography Experience.
1. Scheduling – When Is The Best Time To Do A Newborn Photography Session
We recommend newborn sessions take place within the first 2 weeks after birth (ideally 7-14 days old), as this is when newborns are at their most sleepiest and can be positioned more freely and comfortably.
Newborn Sessions take place Monday to Friday and we recommend to book your session in the second or third trimester of your pregnancy to secure your session. When you book in your babies’ Newborn Photography Session, we’ll take note of your due date. We take on only limited newborn sessions a month to allow for late or early births.
If you’ve just discovered us and your little one is arriving shortly or is already here, give us a call and we’ll see if we can squeeze your session in.
2. Planning – The Discovery Call to plan your perfect session
We’ll have a chat to get to know you and your family, and together we’ll plan the newborn session you desire.
You’ll also fill out a pre-session questionnaire so we can learn more about your preferences for the session. Everything is customisable to how you want the session to look, from the colours and tones used through, the props and accessories.
You’ll also get emails with tips and information to help you prepare for the day, and we’re always here if you have any questions you want to go over.
3. Your Newborn Session – The Day of…
So, when the day of your session arrives, we like to start the sessions around 9am, and we’ll spend 3-4 hours together for the session. This allows plenty of time for cuddles, feeds and nappy changes as needed.
We like to start with family and sibling photos first, so everyone can relax after and we can focus on your baby for the rest of the session.
You’re our guest, so make yourself at home. You wont be the first to catch up on some sleep during the session, so get comfortable and relaxed. We have a Nespresso Coffee machine and tea available, as well as mineral water, some snacks, and a microwave.
4. Design Consultation – Ordering & Seeing Your babies Newborn Photos For the First Time
Life is busy enough during this early stage, so after a quick break, we’ll view your photos at the Cinematic Reveal and Design Consultation. No need to come back another day to choose your photos.
Projected onto a huge 120” screen, we’ll view a beautiful slideshow of the photos captured. Then the Design Consultation, where you’ll select your favourite photographs for purchase, and together, we’ll design your luxury custom products. It’s as easy as selecting the photos you love.
The Hard part? You’ll love them all!

How to book your Newborn Photography Session
To book in your session, fill out the form below, email us, or give us a call. Then, when your session fee is paid, the session will be secured in our calendar. We take on only limited newborn sessions a month to allow for early or late births.
Where Do The Newborn Photography Sessions Take Place?
Our luxurious newborn photography sessions are held in our fully equipped studio in Melbourne’s West. The studio is located in Gisborne and has all you need for a comfortable and relaxing photographic session.

It all began in 2010, when a lecturer threw us together while doing a Bachelor of Arts in Photography in Melbourne. We hit it off over our mutual love of photography, all things Harry Potter, music and travel. Before long we were inseparable and spent all our free time channelling our creative energy and playing with our cameras.
